My background with Dave Guardala

Background and History - My experience with Guardala before the sad story of Lies and Fraud found on the next page.

I first met Dave Guardala in the early 80s at NAMM shows in LA.

My first Guardala mouthpiece was an unusual piece. I was playing the mouthpieces and Dave gave me his ear and his time. I sounded too bright on most everything he had out and after listening to me for a minute, he reached into his bag and handed me a mouthpiece and told me to try it.

Guardala Mouthpieces

It was a Crescent Tenor Mouthpiece, Gold Plate, that he had been working on for Michael Brecker. Guardala ended up opening it too far for Brecker and they had to go back a step or 2 on a different Crescent Mouthpiece and abandon that one.

I put it on my tenor sax and 25 years later, have never thought of replacing it. It is a great Mouthpiece. It was also very expensive. I believe it was 775 and could have been as early as 1981.

I talked with Guardala every year after that and he always ended up remembering me and that mouthpiece after a minute or 2. A few years later, I got the BeBop Traditional Gold Plate Alto Mouthpiece. It was a God send too.

A few more years went by and I decided I should get a Bari Mouthpiece from Guardala also. I called Guardala, emailed Guardala and once I got Guardala on the phone, offered to prepay right then. He said - NO, let me make a mouthpiece and then send it. I don't want to owe you a mouthpiece.

I never got that mouthpiece. I did not call all the time because I did not have the cash very often, but when I did call, he said he would make it and THEN send it.

My experience with Dave Guardala was, he did not want to burn me. He was fair and proper with me in every business dealing we had, and I had nothing but great things to say about Guardala products and good things to say about Dave Guardala.

Guardala Background

That's my background with Guardala - not a very warm, fuzzy guy, but a decent guy with tons of talent.

Dave Guardala Scams

This Guardala Scam involved the sale of Vintage Saxophones and Vintage Mouthpieces that where never delivered. Many a Businessman and Sax Player has been hit by this SCAM. Details of my Scam are on the next page - My Guardala Scam. The latest in this scam involved a man here in the US that has lost over $150,000. (Late April, 2007) My Guardala Scam has been duplicated over and over again with great success. Read thru my story and realize, every person that has come forward realized it was the same exact scam, with the details adapted to that individual.

Other Dave Guardala Scams have included the sale of his name, mouthpieces either from old Dave Guardala stock or new Mouthpieces he claimed to be making, new business opportunities regarding new Saxophone Companies, new Musical products or Mouthpieces, or some other form of a business partnership, sale of his mouthpiece making tricks, tools or information, with product sales including any and all of the woodwinds, old vinyl records, old magazines, original big band charts, and anything else he thinks that might hook you into sending money to him in Germany. In dozens of cases, products were never delivered and estimates are now between $850,000.00 and $1,000,000.00 that have been defrauded from Musicians all over the world.

Why a web site?

Why a BLOG?

Why am I going out of my way and spending time and resources on this issue?

Guardala History

When I got the call from Dave Guardala, July 2006, I went online and searched everywhere for anything on Dave Guardala I could find, Scams, Stories or Fraud stories, Business Deals gone bad, anything. I found nothing.

What I did find was: with success comes critics (already knew that) and I found stories about when Guardala disappeared, he left a mess and a lot of people seemed to be fighting over the leftover pieces. There was nothing online about stealing from musicians, defrauding proposed business asscociates, taking everything he could from the saxophone community or scamming multiple individuals into buying his name.

Once the reality set in for me, I began talking to people, now as a person that had been burned by Guardala, and out of the woodwork came stories of others that have been ripped off by Dave Guardala.

If I had found anything that told me he was capable of stealing from people, I would not be here today. Dave Guardala, a once gifted individual, has become a professional SCAM Artist in recent years. The Saxophone Community and Music Business Worlds must be warned!
